It wasn’t the altitude sickness in the Peruvian Andes or the vicious dog attack. It wasn’t the brush with a mother bear or the persistent deluge on the coastal U.S. It wasn’t even the Patagonian winds or grueling 80-mile stretches in the scorching Argentinian desert. In the end, what nearly ended a two-year, over 20,000-mile bicycle adventure from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina wasn’t one of tragedy or grit. It was a mosquito.
